Curriculum

Kidango is proud to have teaching staff that hold child development teaching credentials issued by the California State Commission on Teacher Credentialing in every classroom. We realize that every child has different educational and developmental needs. At Kidango, teachers customize curriculum to meet the individual needs of every child. In every infant classroom, teachers plan curriculum that supports early brain and social development so that children will be ready for lifelong learning. In our preschool programs, the curriculum is designed to prepare all children academically and socially for kindergarten. Our after school programs support and enrich the academic content taught at school. Kidango works closely with the school districts we partner with to make sure that our preschool and school age curricula are meeting the needs of K-12 teachers.

Research proves and current best-practices in child development concur that primary care-giving and individualized curriculum planning is best for all children. Upon enrolling in our program, your child will be assigned to a family group (a small number of other Kidango children) with a primary caregiver (Kidango teacher) who takes the most active role in caring and nurturing your child. While other teachers may care for and interact with your child, the relationship your child has with the primary caregiver is special. Your child’s primary caregiver will carefully observe your child, document your child’s progress, and formally assess your child’s development utilizing the California Department of Education's Desired Results System. Your child’s primary caregiver will then use the information obtained through this process to create curriculum that is meaningful to the family group and also addresses your child’s individual needs. Your child will be an active partner in the process of curriculum development as it builds on the observed interests of the children in the family group and will move and flow with children's changing interests and needs.
