Our Agency
Welcome!
At Kidango, we understand that choosing a program for your child can be challenging. We are here to help you. Our mission is to provide quality child care and child development services to children and support services to their families. We're here to provide your child with a secure and educational environment designed to help him/her develop into an independent and confident person. Again, welcome!
Kidango is a private, nonprofit agency providing a variety of services to children and families in Alameda, Santa Clara, and San Francisco Counties. Our services are for children from birth to twelve years of age, as determined by the license of each site. The hours of operation vary from site to site. Each site is licensed by Community Care Licensing to ensure the safety of your child.
We are extremely proud of our child development program. We know that it is not us but you, the parent, who has the most influence on your child's development and education. Therefore, in order for your child to obtain the maximum advantage from our program, your help and opinions are needed. You are encouraged to become an active participant in the program through our parent education programs, classroom participation and involvement on the advisory committee.
Kidango believes in the success of the whole child and so is driven to offer experiences that promote the development of healthy attitudes and feelings. This in turn encourages the child to become an individual working on a team and to achieve satisfying relationships with others. We also strive to enhance growth of human dignity and respect for the diversity of people through development of each child's understanding of society, his/her place within it and the responsibilities that come along with it.
Kidango offers a variety of services to meet the diverse needs of young children and their families in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our highly qualified staff are trained to not only provide the best education and care for each child, they also are experts in developing supportive relationships with families. The bonds that we create each day are vital to the success of each child.
History
Kidango began as Tri-Cities Children's Centers in 1979. At inception there were 90 children and families being served at one center in Fremont. Today more than 2800 children and families are served in Alameda, Santa Clara, and San Francisco counties each day. As a leader in early care and education, Kidango offers a wide variety of programs to meet the diverse needs of children 0-10 years of age and their families.
Our commitment, unchanged since our modest beginnings, is to inspire all children and their families by promoting their potential and diversity through quality education and nurturing relationships.
Our Mission Statement
Kidango inspires all children and their families by promoting their potential and diversity through quality education and nurturing relationships.
Philosophy
The philosophy of Kidango is based on the belief that each child deserves an opportunity for total development. Each child comes to the program with certain strengths that should be expanded upon and reinforced. These strengths are based on the learning and teaching styles of their home, which are influenced by the structure and cultural background of the child's family. Those responsible for the program are challenged to create a multi-lingual, cross cultural environment, which will foster the physical, mental, emotional, and social development of all children
Curriculum
The curriculum at Kidango is based on current research, including research on brain development. We believe the ideal curriculum for children is developmentally appropriate, is child centered, and individualized to each child's needs.
The curriculum approach is inspired by the teachings of Montessori, Reggio Emilia, High/Scope, and Piaget. We know that each teacher must provide a loving, nurturing, and homelike environment and an opportunity to experiment and use play for academic success. Each child has social-emotional, intellectual, and physical needs that must all be addressed by the curriculum to provide each child with a positive self-concept, a joy for learning, and ability to work and play with others.
