Gifts From The Heart


Dear Friend of Children,

Share the spirit of giving by supporting Kidango's Gifts from the Heart program. You can make a difference in the lives of children in our community.

Kidango is a non-profit organization with early education centers in Dublin, Fremont, Hayward, Livermore, Newark, San Jose, Treasure Island and Union City. Our early education, early intervention, mental health, before and after school and family child care programs prepare children and their families for future success.

Kidango serves approximately 3,200 children age birth to ten years old, from a diversity of families. More than 85% of the children in our programs are from low income or homeless families and receive our services through subsidized funding. This holiday season, we hope to make the lives of these children a little brighter with a gift from your heart.

How can you help a child in need this holiday season?

• You can involve your employees, co-workers, social organization or neighbors by organizing a gift drive.
• You can individually sponsor a child, a few children, a family or a classroom.
• You can make a monetary donation to our Gifts from the Heart Fund, giving Kidango staff the opportunity to ensure that every child gets a gift.
• You can put out a holiday tree or wreath with our handmade ornaments to enable your employees and the community to sponsor a child in need.
• You can put out collection bins at your place of business, church or school to collect gifts on behalf of Kidango.
• You can donate gift cards to grocery stores, Target, Walmart, etc. to enable Kidango to purchase the much needed gifts for our holiday program.
• You can donate gift wrap, gift bags, tissue, and art supplies to help Kidango efficiently run our holiday program.

As a Gifts from the Heart sponsor, you will receive a handmade ornament from each child you sponsor, which will provide you with your child's first name, gender, age and clothing/shoe size, and a wish list to help you make an appropriate shoe, clothing, book or toy selection. This year we hope to provide each needy child with a warm jacket, new clothing or properly fitting shoes during the month of December. We also welcome books and age-appropriate toys. All donations to this holiday program MUST BE NEW, as we want these children to receive something special during the holiday season.

**Please note that age-appropriate toys DO NOT include any violent toy weapons or violent and explicit video games. Also, if you choose to sponsor a child with a new bike, scooter or skates, please accompany this generous gift with a helmet. **

If you decide to sponsor a family, you will receive a wish list with each family member's name, clothing and shoe size and wish list. Sponsored families in the past needed blankets, grocery store gift cards and furniture.

We ask that all holiday gifts and donations are clearly labeled (First Name, Last Initial and Room #) and are returned to us no later than December 12th, 2007, preferably in a non-religious, non-holiday specific gift bag or gift wrap. Thank you for your generosity and support.
