San Jose Earthquakes Soccer Team Visits Kidango Arbuckle's Program
Kidango had the honor of having San Jose Earthquakes' midfielder Brad Ring visit the Kidango Arbuckle Center in San Jose on Tuesday, June 22. School-age children from Kidango Arbuckle, Cesar Chavez, Cureton and Linda Vista all came together for the opportunity to meet Ring.

Kidango Partners with San Lorenzo School Distrcit to Provide Universal Preschool
This fall, Kidango will partner with the San Lorenzo Elementary School District to provide preschool programs on eight of the District's elementary school campuses. This project is projected to serve 430 preschool students throughout San Lorenzo once all preschool programs have been set up.

Japanese Ministry of Education Visits Kidango Hillview Crest Preschool
Carol T. Smith, Policy Advisor to State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O’Connell from the California Department of Education and three dignitaries from Japan, Professor Chie Nakajima, Takako Shinohara, and Mariko Ichimi Abumiya, visited the Kidango Hillview Crest Part-day Preschool in Hayward, California as part of a research project funded by the Japanese Ministry of Education. The goal of the research group was to learn from Kidango's strongly successful program for transitioning children from preschool to kindergarten. Western Digital Foundation Awards Kidango $10,000
Thanks to a $10,000 grant provided by the Western Digital Charitable Foundation, Kidango, will enhance the services provided though the agency’s early intervention and mental health services programs. Kidango early intervention and mental health specialists will provide services for families with children ages 0-3 years identified as “at risk” for developing a developmental delay or disability. Kidango kicks off the new year by opening its newest center, The Kidango Amador Child Development Center in Hayward, CA. IBM Awards Kidango 19 Young Explorer Computer Units
Kidango has been awarded a grant of 19 Young Explorer computer units from IBM to be placed in Kidango centers to enhance the learning environment for each child. IBM has generously provided such computer units to Kidango in the past and has reiterated their commitment to introducing children to technology at a young age through this award to Kidango. The Young Explorer computer units, along with donated KidSmart Early Learning software, will be used to create Computer Learning Areas at each center. The centers to receive the units currently do not have operating computers for the children and they are excited for this new addition to their classrooms.

Kidango Helps Build Futures for Local College Students
Bay Area Newsgroup Staff Writer, Amy Moellering, describes the summer of a recent high school graduate. Kimberly Walker spent her summer gaining two college credits and working at a Kidango child development center in Livermore. Through federal stimulus money, Los Positas Community College and the Tri-Valley Community Foundation gave Walker and 95 other students the opportunity to work at local businesses and prepare for their future careers.

Kaiser Permanente Awards a Grant to Combat Childhood Obesity
Kaiser Permanente awarded Kidango with a grant to help educate 250 families enrolled in Kidango’s Southern Alameda County child development centers. Through this funding a dietician will be hired to review, analyze and strategize with each family so they can live healthier lifestyles.

Kidango announced its renewed participation in the USDA’s Child and Adult Food Care Program in order to serve 1.25 million meals to 2,500 children this year.

Kidango Expands into the City of Pleasanton
Through a partnership with the Pleasanton Unified School District, Kidango opened its first center in the City of Pleasanton to children ages 2 through 5 years old. The Kidango Bernal Preschool Center will prepare 48 children for Kindergarten and future success.
In May 2009 the Pleasanton Weekly and Valley Times included articles on Pleasanton Unified School District’s decision to approve a childcare contract with Kidango.

Kidango Opens a New Preschool in the City of Dublin
Kidango opened a new child development center in the City of Dublin offering both part-day and full-day preschool programs to meet the community’s needs. With three classrooms, this center will prepare 96 children for Kindergarten and future success.

Kidango Launches its 30th Anniversary Celebration
In 1979, Kidango opened its first doors to 90 children and their families in Fremont’s Irvington District. During its 30 year history, Kidango has expanded to nine Bay Area cities and serves 2,500 children daily. Kidango launched a year-long 30th Anniversary Celebration by inviting the community to participate in its 14th Annual Taster’s Showcase Benefit.

The Argus’ staff writer Lihn Tat participated in a comprehensive walk-through of Kidango’s Rix Center (Kidango’s first location) and took account of the life of a Kidango preschooler. Her article set out to capture the essence of Kidango’s core early education programming in celebration of the agency’s 30th Anniversary. Various versions of the article were included in The Argus and Tri-Valley Herald.
Barnes and Noble in Dublin, CA Donates 2,232 Books
The Barnes and Noble store in Dublin, CA chose Kidango to be the beneficiary of its annual holiday book drive and collected 2,232 books. The brand-new books were sorted by age and distributed to children enrolled in Kidango’s programs throughout the Bay Area.
